ABOUT ME

Hello!  I’m Cindy Bader, owner of Patterns on the Prairie. I’m a passionate quilter, national educator, guild speaker, and quilt pattern designer with over 30 years of experience in the quilting world. I love helping quilters of all ages and skill levels grow in their quilting journey - always with kindness, encouragement, and a genuine desire to see them succeed.

My permanent home is in Marshall, Minnesota (Southwest corner of the state), but we travel during the winter to warmer states.  My specialty is Mosaic Applique, which is fusible applique with a little ‘gap’ between each piece, giving the quilts a modern, unique, mosaic look.  I would LOVE to come visit your guild, and talk about Mosaic Applique!

IN PERSON SPEAKING

I offer a 1 hour lecture that is composed of a trunk show of over 20 quilts, and a talk designed to give members a behind-the-scenes look at the process of designing Mosaic Applique quilt patterns.

  • From Concept to Creation - Designing an Applique Pattern: This 1 hour trunk show and talk (with Powerpoint) shows my finished quilts, and explains in detail my creative process, from initial concept to final pattern creation.

  • Marketing: Photos, bio and speaking description will be provided to the guild.

  • In-Person vs. Virtual: This talk is only available in person at this time, and is not offered virtually.

  • Cost: $150 plus travel expenses. Vending at meetings is also part of my compensation.

MOSAIC APPLIQUE CLASSES

I also offer beginner-friendly fusible applique classes featuring my own quilt patterns. Whether your guild members are brand new to fusible applique, or seasoned quilters looking for a fresh new technique, my classes are designed to be fun, inspiring, and approachable for all skill levels.  It works best to schedule a speaking engagement prior to the class (can be the day/night before), so members can see the quilts in person.

  • Patterns: Guilds can choose any of my patterns to make in class (can have multiple options for students to choose from).

  • Experience needed: A 7 hour fusible applique class is appropriate for both the novice or seasoned quilter.   No fusible experience is needed.

  • Marketing: Photos, class description, and a supply list will be provided to the guild prior to the class.

  • In-Person or Virtual: The guild can choose if they would like to host the class in person, or virtually via ZOOM.

  • Provided by guild: Ironing boards, cutting stations, and tables/chairs (one person per table is ideal. Two students per table is doable).

  • Cost: $40 per person (minimum class size of 5). Pattern and optional supplies extra. If in-person, travel costs are paid by guild.

I’d LOVE the opportunity to connect with your guild and share my experience through an in-person speaking engagement or hands-on class. Please contact me with comments, questions, or to coordinate dates to book a speaking engagement or personal class for your guild.

If you live outside the Midwest, you can sign up for my monthly newsletter, and you’ll be alerted to when I might be coming to your state.
